Growing up I was always active, but also tall and thin. When I entered my late teens I wanted to change that and started weight training. As I started seeing results, I wanted to keep building more. Over the next several years I spent 5-6 days a week lifting weights and playing basketball several hours a day. I've tried to keep some level of activity in my life ever since. I've held various personal training certifications over the course of my life, including ACE, IFPA, and NASM. Getting married and having kids changed my priorities and my activity level went down.
Having a family meant not being able to get to the gym every day. For a few years, I was somewhat stagnant, exercising occasionally but not consistently. In 2014 my neighbor suggested trying CrossFit. I liked the idea of getting in and out in 60 minutes and not having to think about what I had to do each day. It was programmed for me and it was with a like-minded community.
The best part about the gym is the community. You get to coach and or exercise with a bunch of like-minded individuals that are trying to better themselves. It's highly motivating to see & help others consistently improve themselves and reach their fitness goals, no matter what they are.
